These Terms of Service govern your use of jatengineers.com and the services of JAT Engineering ("we", "us"). By using the site or submitting a project you agree to these terms. Questions: projects@jatengineers.com.

Our services

We provide structural engineering services — including structural plans, calculations, evaluations and permit-correction responses — for projects in the states where we are licensed. All engineering work is performed under the responsible charge of a licensed professional engineer, and documents are signed and sealed where required by the permitting jurisdiction. Quote requests and scope reviews are free and create no obligation; engineering work begins only after you accept a written proposal and pay the deposit it specifies.

Proposals, pricing and payment

Each project is quoted at a fixed price in a written proposal describing scope, deliverables, estimated turnaround and included correction rounds. A deposit is required to begin work and the remaining balance is due before signed and sealed documents are released, unless your proposal states otherwise. You may cancel at any time; amounts already earned for work performed are not refundable.

No guarantee of permit approval

We prepare documents intended to satisfy the requirements of your permitting jurisdiction, and your proposal states the plan-check correction rounds included. Permitting decisions are made solely by the permitting agency, and we cannot and do not guarantee permit approval or approval timelines.

Your responsibilities

You agree to provide accurate project information, to have the right to share any documents you upload, and to use the platform only for lawful purposes connected to your project. Site conditions you report and documents you provide are relied upon in the engineering work; inaccurate information may require re-work at additional cost.

Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for activity under your account. We may suspend accounts used in violation of these terms.

Communications

By submitting a quote request with your contact details, you agree that we may contact you about your project by email and phone. Text messaging: if you check the optional text-message opt-in box on our quote form, you consent to receive text messages from us about your quote request and project. Consent is voluntary and not a condition of purchase or of receiving a quote. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel text messages at any time, or HELP for help. Consent to text messages is not a condition of purchase. Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Files and intellectual property

You retain ownership of documents you upload and grant us the right to use them to deliver the services. Engineering deliverables are licensed to you for use on the specific project and property they were prepared for, upon payment in full. The website, its content and software are our property or our licensors' and may not be copied or reused without permission.

Professional services agreement

Engineering services are additionally governed by the engineering services agreement presented with your proposal. If these terms conflict with that agreement, the agreement controls for the engineering work.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The website is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of the website or services is limited to the amounts you paid for the affected project, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, or the professional obligations of the engineer of record under state licensing law.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in California, unless your engineering services agreement provides otherwise.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time; the "last updated" date above reflects the current version. Continued use of the site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
