JAT Engineering ("we", "us") provides structural engineering services online at jatengineers.com. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. Questions: projects@jatengineers.com.

Information we collect

When you request a quote or submit a project we collect contact information (name, email address, phone number), project information (property address, project descriptions, timelines, budgets), and any files you upload (plans, photos, reports, permit documents). If you create an account we store your login credentials (passwords are stored only as secure hashes). When you pay a deposit or invoice, payment is handled by our payment processor; we do not store full card numbers. We also collect standard technical information: IP address, browser type, pages visited, and marketing attribution data (such as the search ad or page that brought you to us).

How we use information

We use your information to scope and deliver engineering services, prepare proposals, communicate about your project (by email, phone and text message where you have agreed), process payments, maintain professional records, comply with legal and licensing obligations, and improve our website and services. We use marketing attribution to understand which advertising brings customers to us.

Text messaging (SMS)

Text messages are sent only if you check the optional text-message box when requesting a quote — consent to text messages is voluntary and is not a condition of receiving a quote or any service. If you opt in, we may text you about your project and quote request. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to opt out of text messages, or HELP for help. Text messaging opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes; information sharing with vendors occurs only as necessary to deliver messages to you (for example, our messaging service provider).

Uploaded documents and project files

Plans, photos and reports you upload are stored privately in our cloud storage and are accessible only to you, your invited team, and our engineering and operations staff working on your project. Files are retained as part of the professional project record.

Cookies and analytics

We use cookies for sign-in sessions and first-party marketing attribution (including Google Ads and Meta advertising identifiers), and analytics tools (including Google and Meta tags and product analytics) to measure our website and advertising. You can control cookies through your browser settings, and opt out of personalized advertising through Google and Meta's ad settings.

Sharing with service providers

We share information only with service providers who help us operate: cloud hosting and file storage (Google Cloud), email delivery, text-message delivery (Twilio), payment processing, analytics and advertising measurement, and the licensed professional engineer in responsible charge of your project's engineering work. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

California privacy rights

If you are a California resident, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and you have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in the CCPA/CPRA. To make a request, email projects@jatengineers.com; we will verify your identity before responding.

Data retention

Account information and project records are retained while your account is active and afterward as required for professional record-keeping, tax, legal and licensing obligations. You may request deletion of information we are not required to retain.

Security

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, access-controlled cloud storage, and role-restricted internal access. No system is perfectly secure; contact us immediately if you believe your account has been compromised.

Children's privacy

Our services are intended for adults and businesses. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date above reflects the current version; material changes will be noted on this page.
