Signs your remodel needs engineering

  • Any bearing wall is moving, shrinking or disappearing
  • You're cutting into floor, ceiling or roof framing
  • The plan checker wrote "provide structural calculations" on your submittal
  • Your contractor or architect asked for beam sizes, posts or holdowns
  • The house is older and the remodel touches the framing

Pricing, honestly

What actually drives the price

No two projects price the same — these are the factors our engineers scope. You get one fixed number after a free review, not an hourly meter.

How many walls and openings

Each new beam, post and holdown is designed and detailed individually.

One story or two

Loads stack. Work on the first floor of a two-story home carries more design work.

Seismic bracing

Removing walls can remove earthquake bracing — California plan checkers look for the replacement.

Condition of the existing structure

Older framing and foundations sometimes need verification or upgrades along the way.

The risk is on us: free scope review, fixed price, and no commitment until you accept.

Before you ask

What does remodel engineering cost?+

Every remodel is quoted after a free scope review — one fixed price for a defined scope. Submitting your project costs nothing and you're not committed until you accept the proposal.

My permit application got flagged for structural calcs. Can you help?+

Yes — that's one of the most common projects we take. Upload the plan-check letter and your drawings; we'll respond with the engineering the city asked for, and correction rounds are included per your proposal.

Do I need finished architectural plans first?+

No. Plans help us quote faster, but photos, sketches and dimensions are enough to define scope for many remodels. We'll list anything else we need in the proposal.

Who does the engineering?+

Licensed California engineers. Every project is reviewed and approved by the engineer responsible for the work — approval is never automated — and documents are signed and sealed where required.

Your Remodel, Engineered — Before the Permit Counter Asks.

Three questions, a free scope review, and a fixed-price quote — usually within one business day.

No commitment required to submit a project for review.
